Panama Waste to Diesel Expansion
Cerro Patacon is the first and most timely opportunity for the waste to diesel solution proposed by GEI. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, other Panama municipalities and the hotel developers along the Pacific beach area have also expressed an interest in waste to diesel plants in various other parts of Panama. As mentioned previously, these landfill areas are much smaller than Cerro Patacon and would require, at most, a single KDV 500 plant each.
Alphakat is interested in forming an exclusive relationship with Green Energy in Panama and there is need for the efficient handling of waste throughout the country.
These locations are identified on the map below as follows:
Cerro Patacon – Landfill site currently under contract with UB previously described in this plan. This is the critical first project for GEI and there is a short window of opportunity.
Chame to Aguadulce – 20 miles of new beach front with hotels, resorts and 50,000 residences in the next three years including the following:
Vista Mar – 400 hotel rooms and 1,000-2,000 residences
Coronado – 20 projects with 300-400 units
Playo Blanca – 800 hotel rooms and 3,000 residences; will also have the second largest pool at 17 acres
Nikki Beach – hotel and 500 residences
Buena Ventura – 200 hotel rooms and 800 residences
Hard Rock – large with 1,000 rooms
Pijao – golf and 400 hotel rooms
Cameron – 1,200 rooms and 1,000 residences
The developers in this area are greatly concerned with the waste recycling issue which will increase with the growth of this developing area. There is also the issue of increased energy requirements for the operation of these facilities. There is interest from the developers in this area to assist in the financing of local waste to energy site.
David and Bojo Boquete - Boquete is a growing area of North American retiree communities and the waste issue is creating a serious problem.
Colon – This is a major metropolitan area on the Caribbean side and a significant landfill and waste problem.
Santiago and Chitra – These are additional metropolitan areas.
Bocas del Toro – This is another very important tourist area with approximately 20 tourist development projects underway.
